Frequently Asked Painting Questions
Answers to common questions about prep work, finishes, cabinet refinishing, and local humidity durability.
Thorough surface prep and moisture checking. In Louisiana's high humidity, applying paint over damp wood or un-scraped mildew will cause peeling within 6 to 12 months. Pressure washing, scraping loose paint, and applying a high-adhesion primer are non-negotiable.
Flat/matte is best for ceilings and low-traffic living walls to hide imperfections. Satin offers washable durability for family rooms and bedrooms. Semi-gloss is recommended for trim, doors, and kitchen cabinets due to its superior moisture resistance.
Yes! The key is deep degreasing, pore sanding, grain filling, applying a heavy-bodied bonding primer, and finish spraying high-solid polyurethane paint in a dust-free environment.
With premium Sherwin-Williams coatings and rigorous prep, a quality exterior paint job in South Louisiana lasts 8 to 12 years. Regular pressure washing helps preserve color vibrancy and prevent mold buildup.
